Here I will be putting information that is of interest to far away family and friends - Indulge me please. To Read the family "van clan Chronicles" go to http://geovander.blogspot.com/
I was born in Kitwe, Zambia in 1952, moved to Johannesburg at the age of ten in 1962, In Florida Park High, in Std 6 I joined the cadette band and played the Bugle, then in std 7 tenor drum, then cymbals and finally the trumpet. Joined the SADF in December of 1968, from 1969 lived in Cape Town where I became a disciple of Jesus Christ in 1976 at St. James Church - Kenilworth. Eventually I reached the rank of Sergeant Major and felt called to the full time ministry in 1982. I went to the Bible Institute of South Africa in 1984 - leaving Bible College I went to St. Timothy's Church in Swakopmund, where I did 2 and a half years of Curacy (apprenticeship) Then I went to Christ Church Welkom for a few years. At this time my eldest son, Andrew, died by his own hand. We then returned to Cape Town where I worked for my self at TV repairs and installations. Then Emmanuel Church Bellville called me to be the assistant Rector. After 3 1/2 years or so I was called back to Swakopmund - and finally back to Christ Church Welkom, where I minister to this day. On 22nd of June 2013 my youngest son, Mark died by his own hand as well.
My prayer is that the men of my church will be majestic soul winners for the Lord Jesus Christ, and that a revival will start in Welkom.
